OFFSHORE SURVEY, SONAR AND WARSHIP SUPPORT VESSEL MV Seahorse is a fully equipped offshore survey and combat weapons trials support vessel capable of working safely in exposed open seas where accurate and reliable surveying and positioning is required.
Surveys are primarily undertaken with an array of echo-sounders and survey grade GPS equipment. In addition, Sub-Bottom Profiling, Sector Scanning and Side-Scan Sonar can provide a very accurate picture of the seabed and layers below. MV Seahorse 2 has a large aft deck work space and crane allowing for seabed sampling equipment such as Vibrocorers and gravity corers to be deployed in a safe environment.
For combat weapons calibration and trials this vessel has been adapted to comply with the most exacting demands of modern warfare and has a specialised capacity to self load and deploy Thermal IR Histar Targets at sea for the fine calibration of live gunnery firings when fitted with the BAE Systems VTMS equipment. The versatile features incorporated in this vessel make her the ideal vessel for a vast range of combat weapons trials where charterers have free access to private cabin and office facilities.
